The NCCC wrapped up its 2007 Highland Games schedule with the Loch Lomond Games held in Ben Lomond. It was our first time presenting shinty at this event, one which enjoys a lovely setting in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Although there was frost on the ground when we arrived at 9AM it turned warm and sunny by the time we played a beautiful Autumn day. Between the lunch time demonstration match on the Heavy Athletics field and the visitors at the NCCC tent we received a very positive reception and enjoyed the afternoon. Go here action shots from the demonstration match!

The area in which we played was an odd duality of dirt and long grass, it's normal function being as a baseball field. It was an interesting combination of the ball running like crazy on the infield and going no where fast in the outfield! In addition to our lunchtime demonstration, we manned an information pavilion complete with backstop and had a number of interested visitors who gave a try at hitting the ball.

Many voices contributed to our announcing during the demo.

The Loch Lomond Games are a unique event, different from the other HIghland Games we attended in 2007 and full of unique surprises (see below). We had a chance to catch up with our friends The Wicked Tinkers (who do such a great job of spreading the word about shinty) and hang out in the clan tent area as well. Everyone pitched in to make this a very successful event and a nice finale to our 2007 Games season!
