SECOND ANNUAL LIVERMORE CUP TOURNAMENT (14 & 15 May 2005) Livermore Scottish Games at Robertson Park (Livermore, California)

OUR SECOND YEAR AS PART OF THE LIVERMORE SCOTTISH GAMES! The NCCC staged a three-team round robin tournament for the Livermore Scottish Games in 2005. Dividing roughly along geographic lines we had the North Bay Cabarafeidh, the South Bay Excelsiors, and the San Mateo Hooligans. On Saturday we played three matches to decide who would play in the Cup Match on Sunday. Cabarfeidh and The Excelsiors ended with exactly the same record and goal differential! Sunday afternoon, after a consolation match, the Cup Match went down to the wire. In fact after two halves and a single Overtime period the match was tied at 2 - 2. Due to scheduling demands (the field was being used for other events) we could not play another overtime or have a penalty shoot-out, so the 2005 Livermore Cup ended as a tie between the San Mateo and North Bay teams. Whew! We were pleased to have Livermore Games guests of honour Charlie, Amelia and Phillipa Blair Oliphant (children of Laurence Blair Oliphant, head of the Oliphant family in Scotland) in attendance at Cup final on Sunday. Honorary Chieftain McBain of McBain also came by at the end of the match, so we had quite a crowd for our finale! More pictures will be added over the coming weeks...
